This article mentions the loss of a family member.
A nationally touring band from Harford County is using music, mindfulness, and storytelling to inspire proactive mental health and connection across the country.
When Jordan Lally lost his father to a battle with clinical depression that culminated in suicide, he could have let the grief define him. Instead, he and his wife Megan Lally turned that heartbreak into purpose—founding the Ed Lally Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting proactive mental health through the arts, mindfulness, and community connection.
What began as a deeply personal mission has grown into a nationwide movement—uniting evidence-based mental health strategies with the healing power of music to inspire resilience, openness, and hope throughout Harford County, Maryland, and beyond.
What is the Ed Lally Foundation?
The Ed Lally Foundation was founded by Jordan and Megan Lally in memory of Jordan’s father, Ed, who lost his battle with depression in 2014. From the beginning, the Lally's envisioned an organization that would help others find peace, purpose, and connection by normalizing conversations about mental health and sharing practical, science-based tools for emotional well-being.
Today, Megan serves as Executive Director, guiding the foundation’s growth and partnerships, while Jordan serves as Impact Director, creating and overseeing all mental health outreach programs. Together, they lead with compassion and creativity—bringing healing to communities through honest dialogue, mindful awareness, and heartfelt connection.
What Does the Foundation Do?
At the heart of the foundation’s mission is The Power of Expression (POE)—an immersive experience that blends live music, storytelling, mindfulness, and evidence-based proactive mental health practices.
Led by Jordan’s nationally touring band Big Infinite, POE transforms school assemblies and community events into spaces for honest conversation and shared healing. The program gives students a voice, helping them open up about their struggles while learning tools to regulate emotions, reduce stress, and strengthen their mental health. Each performance encourages open, healthy dialogue around mental health and suicide prevention while reminding everyone who may be struggling that they are not alone.
While the foundation’s outreach is centered in Harford County and throughout Maryland, the Power of Expression program has reached audiences nationwide, with performances and workshops in Illinois, South Carolina, New York, and virtually across the country.
What Other Programs Are Offered?
Beyond POE, the Ed Lally Foundation offers a variety of community-based groups and programs, including:
- Men’s Mindful Mental Health Group
- Women’s Mindful Mental Health Group
- Suicide Loss Survivors Support Group
- Weekly Guided Meditation Group
- Weekly Meditation for Clinicians Group
- Plus a range of workshops and community events focused on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and authentic human connection.
These programs embody the foundation’s belief that proactive mental health begins with awareness, compassion, and community—empowering individuals to care for their minds and hearts before crisis strikes.
Are There Any Upcoming Events?
This fall, the foundation continues bringing its Power of Expression program to schools throughout Maryland while expanding its guided meditation and mindful mental health groups for the community. New workshops exploring stress management, mindful communication, and emotional resilience are also on the horizon.
Follow the foundation’s social channels to stay up to date on events, performances, and opportunities to get involved in building a culture of proactive mental health through mindfulness and the arts.
